The 2018-19 Spanish Primera Division kicked off on Saturday with the traditional kick of a ball by Spain’s King. But this year, some players and coaches had something extra to do: take part in an esports tournament that is scheduled for December 12th
The “la liga start date 2021/22” is the upcoming season of Spanish football. The first match will take place on the weekend of September 21-22, with the league starting in January.

This weekend, players in Spain’s top division for women started staging 30-second protests at the outset of every game to draw attention to the league’s delayed start.
Atletico Madrid, Real Sociedad, and Barcelona players were among those who refused to play for 30 seconds at the opening of their respective matches on Saturday.

In June, the Spanish government designated the Primera Iberdrola women’s first division to be professional. However, the process has been stalled for the last five months; 12 of the league’s 16 teams submitted a proposal for laws to Spain’s government in July, but no agreement has been achieved.
In a statement, the Association of Women’s Soccer Clubs (ACFF), which was founded in 2015, said it supports the players’ position and has called for a solution now that those who voted in favor are willing to include proposals from the four clubs that opposed the statutes in order to “unblock the process.”
Meanwhile, the players criticize the clubs for their inability to reach an agreement as well as the government for its lack of leadership and backing.
“Once again, it is the players who must show their faces to remind everyone, particularly this Government, that professionalizing women’s football is the best way to work for equality in sport, especially when there is such an obvious situation of inequality between men and women,” the Players’ Union (AFE) said in a statement.
“Because this scenario threatens the financial stability of certain clubs, we will not hesitate to take clear and firm action, as we have done before and will do again.”
Because its clubs will organize the league, the Primera Iberdrola will be able to be self-sufficient, gain greater resources, and improve conditions.
Some clubs have accused the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) of interfering, and the situation was exacerbated on Thursday when the Spanish FA’s disciplinary committee docked Real Sociedad, Levante, and Villarreal three points and fined €609 each for failing to wear an RFEF logo on their jerseys during recent league games.
The penalty, according to players and clubs, demonstrates that the RFEF does not consider the women’s league to be professional.
“The RFEF still has not acknowledged the women’s soccer league being deemed professional by the Spanish government on June 15 and continues to operate as if this decision had not happened and the competition was non-professional,” the three clubs stated in a statement.
“These three teams will wear the RFEF badge against their will from now on in order to avoid aggravating the issue in light of the persecution they perceive they are facing.”
“The RFEF intends that the teams display their logo and that of their main sponsor for free and mandatory, which lacks legal support; the teams that are active in professional leagues are owners of the advertising rights of their kits and holders of the income that the League promotes through the logos on the shirts; the RFEF intends that the teams display their logo and that of their main sponsor for free and mandatory, which lacks legal support.”
Players from Levante and Real Sociedad covered the RFEF insignia on their shirts before kick-off on Saturday to protest the Spanish FA’s latest penalty.
