Rory McIlroy has been known to be a bit of a hothead, but this time he may have gone too far. The 27-year-old put his 3-wood on the New Jersey Turnpike, and it is now in possession of one lucky person who found it.
The arduous PGA Tour schedule is wearing Rory McIlroy down.
He was so tired last weekend at the Northern Trust that he threw his 3-wood down the course in anger. If you’re traveling near Liberty National Golf Course on the New Jersey Turnpike this week and need a new 3-wood, you may want to pull off the ninth hole and pick up a free one from McIlroy.

Playing full-time on the PGA Tour is unlike anything else in professional sports. Even the most psychologically strong golfers in the world may be weighed down by quick turnarounds every weekend, dozens of trips around the globe, and the strain of it all.
In the past month, McIlroy has flown to the United Kingdom, Tokyo, and all around the United States, all while attempting to play flawless golf in order to qualify for the TOUR Championship next weekend. The Northern Irishman is beginning to feel the strain.
According to Daniel Rapaport of, McIlroy stated this week, “I guess I feel like a lot of the players right now – a bit jaded, a little weary.” “There’s been a lot of golf towards the end of the season. Yes, there has been a lot of travel.
“To be honest, I’m just getting through it.” I’m taking it day by day and trying to get through it as quickly as possible in order to make it to next week. After then, there will be a two-week break until the Ryder Cup. Yeah, I’m just taking things one day at a time. Okay, the game feels quite nice. At this stage, energy levels are attempting to delve deeper. Continue to work hard and finish well this week so that I can be in Atlanta next week.”
Exhaustion and stress may lead players to crack, as McIlroy did at the Northern Trust last weekend.

Why did Rory McIlroy spend so much time on the range yesterday shooting 3-woods?
“On Monday, I threw my 3-wood into the New Jersey Turnpike off the 9th hole, so I didn’t have one coming here,” he said.
“There’s a 3-wood someplace in there if someone wants to go grab one.”

McIlroy is simply wanting to get to the end of the PGA Tour season at this point, so he couldn’t have been too pleased when the Northern Trust’s final round was postponed until Monday due to rain. After three rounds, the 32-year-old was out of contention. He simply wanted to finish the competition and move on to the next week.
McIlroy let his emotions get the better of him after shooting a 3-over 39 on Monday.
“I threw my 3-wood into the New Jersey Turnpike off the 9th hole yesterday, or Monday, and I didn’t have a 3-wood when I came here [to the BMW Championship],” he said.
“I may not have made it to the road, but I threw it into the woods off the ninth hole at Liberty National, so if anybody needs a 3-wood, it’s in there somewhere.”
Are you looking for a new 3-wood?
Residents of Jersey City, who wants a fresh new 3-wood for free?
All you have to do is travel down the New Jersey Turnpike and exit at Liberty National’s ninth hole. If you take a stroll through the woods, you may just come upon a TaylorMade Sim 3-wood. That’s one of the finest clubs on the market right now, and you can receive one for free if you buy one that was previously owned by Rory McIlroy!
Good luck with your search.
