Dauntless, the free-to-play cooperative action RPG from Phoenix Labs is finally out of beta. The update with a reworked chain blade system, new behemoth (Golem), and other features has arrived to both consoles today.
The “dauntless hunt pass” is a new feature that allows players to purchase game passes for the game. The “dauntless hunt pass” will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox X/S today.
Today represents not just a new Dauntless release, but also a new hardware release. Slayers can expect the Call to Arms update, as well as the free-to-play monster killing RPG’s launch on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S consoles.
First, the patch: Call to Arms brings Sahvyt, a new shock giant created by Ostian that is wreaking havoc in the Shattered Isles while also providing a new supply of craftable gear. The Coldrunner Key and Boreal Outpost hunting grounds in the Shattered Isles have been updated with story-based activities that require players to reinforce site defenses and engage Behemoths. These island updates are the first stage in Dauntless’ plan to bring “additional adventure, narrative, and player activities” to the hunting grounds.
One of the most notable features of this update is a revamp of the chain blades weapon, which changes the how the weapon’s combos function as well as its specials and modifications. The new version also includes the standard new hunt pass, reward cache refresh, and a slew of additional bug fixes and tweaks to the game’s general playability.
All of this is available on the current generation of consoles, with all of the normal bells and whistles that come with a game release on those systems, such as enhanced graphics, shorter load times, and higher resolution.
